Makers Circle, a new Birmingham based craft collective, will be delivering Mending Stories; a series of stitch workshops that explore the value of mending, repair and creative expression.
In today’s fast-paced world, it is easy to throw away items that have lost their shine, without considering their value or significance. However, repairing these items can give them a new lease of life, preserving their stories and memories for generations to come. These items have a unique value, and by mending them, we can not only extend their lifespan but also reconnect with the memories and emotions they hold.
In a series of workshops, artists will demonstrate simple skills to repair and mend treasured textile items. These workshops encourage sustainability, enable the learning of new skills and create meaningful connections with others in the community.
Please come along, share your stories and help to create a community that values the items we own and the memories they hold. Join us on a journey towards sustainability and preserving the items that have personal meaning to us
Drop-in workshops:
Monday 15 & 22 May, 11am – 1pm
Monday 5 & 12 June, 11am – 1pm
Free. No booking required.
