These mini Leafscape Garlands are snapshots from Emma-Jane’s three decorative centrepieces that she has made for Made In The Middle. Delicate hammered stems support organically formed leaves, which are patinated with rustic finishes and finished with burnished accents, which accentuates the hammered marks of the making process.
Each design can be displayed across its display plinth, of charred, grit blasted and hard waxed wood, in many different ways. The Leafscape Garland can be draped and propped against its plinth, which can also be used any way that suits.
Emma-Jane is a Contemporary Metalsmith who uses traditional metalworking techniques as well as a contemporary technique called fold-forming. Her work created for Made in the Middle takes inspiration from leaves, trees and wild landscapes and she interprets this natural energy and beauty of form into sculptural metal designs, using fold-forming, hammer forming, fabrication, silver soldering and patination.
Care Instructions: occasionally brush with a soft bristle brush to remove dust; the green verdigris patina may flake over.
You can find more of Emma-Jane’s work in our upcoming Made in the Middle exhibition, launching at Leicester Gallery, de Montford University, on 25 January 2025.
