As part of the Celebrating Sanctuary’s Refugee Week, Shelanu will be at Refugee Week Takeover at Symphony Hall, hosting a free, drop-in origami butterfly workshop as well as selling their handmade jewellery and other items made by the women’s craft collective.
Sit with the Shelanu team and learn how to make an origami butterfly. You can make one which can sit in your space, be suspended or wear it as a brooch.
Over time different cultures, religions and individuals have associated various meanings to the butterfly. This has made the butterfly a symbol of many admirable and healing qualities including: resilience, endurance, rebirth, transformation, resurrection, change, hope and life.
