Sarah will be joined by Chris Gee\, Campaign Leader at WWF talking about how WWF are incorporating craftivism; Deirdre Figueiredo MBE\, Director of  Craftspace on the power of using craft for young people’s voices; and Alexi Duggins\, once Editor-at-Large of Time Out London\, now freelance journalist for the Guardian\, NME amongst others\, on how using Craftivism as a tool for campaigning can attract media to cover your issue. \nFollowing the discussion you are invited to join a Stitchable Change-maker Craftivism workshop. DESCRIPTION:Our action research project\, Explorations in Creativity\, which was part of the Radical Craft exhibition will be feature as an exhibit at the Royal Anthropological Institute’s conference ‘Art\, Materiality and Representation’. \nIt will take place at the British Museum\, Clore Centre\, in conjunction with the museum’s Department of Africa\, Oceania and the Americas and in SOAS\, Senate House\, in conjunction with their Department of Anthropology. \nThere will also be a ‘Meet the Artist’ event at the conference on 2 June. \nThe display and event take place in the Cloisters\, Paul Webley Wing SOAS. \nRegister for the conference on the RAI website. \n This event is not organised by Craftspace.\nVisitors to the conference are a truly interdisciplinary mix of 1500 international delegates. Participants will include anthropologists\, curators\, teachers\, undergraduate and postgraduate students\, representatives of NGOs and media\, artists\, corporate bodies and members of the general public.

It is the first time Shelanu have shown in Scotland\, so we look forward to reaching a new audience. \nEntrance to the Elements Selling Fair is £5 but entrance to the exhibition is free of charge. \nThe organisers say: \n\nSecrets and Magic\n50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship is a remarkable new exhibition of jewellery and other superbly crafted works by 50 international artists and designers. \nThe exhibition has been created by leading modern jewellery curators Amanda Game\, former Director of the Scottish Gallery\, and Professor Dorothy Hogg MBE\, designer and former Head of Jewellery and Silversmithing at Edinburgh College of Art. \nArtists and designers from around the world have been invited to exhibit on the basis of their ability to balance interesting ideas\, skillful craftsmanship and a fresh and exciting approach to a wide range of materials and techniques. \nThe exhibition will also feature pieces from designers who trained in jewellery and have moved into different fields\, including sculpture\, luxury goods\, and Japanese carving\, and others who received early training in painting\, sculpture and product design\, who have been drawn to jewellery making. \n50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship will take place from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 November at Elements 3.
