Hear about a practical response to the crisis in craft education and in particular the fall in student participation in craft related learning. Crafting Enterprise, an action research project, was developed as part of Made in the Middle in response to the Crafts Council Manifesto ‘Our Future is in the Making’. During the period 2007 to 2012 there has been a fall in take-up of craft related GCSEs of 25%. craftscouncil.org.uk/educationmanifesto
The event includes a practical workshop led by Hayley Beckley, lead artist for Crafting Enterprise. Hayley will introduce some of the techniques and processes that the students used during the project.
