Architecture Day 2005

Project Summary

A Creative Partnerships Project with Paget Primary School

The whole of Paget Primary School including 300 pupils, staff and parents considered the architecture of their environment during a special day on Friday 6th May 2005.

The whole day was set aside for architecturally focused activities and concluded with pupils building models of their school.

The creative activities were led by Architect, Ian Tipton who devised a series of sessions based on the senses which encouraged the pupils to think about the way they move through, touch, hear and see spaces within the school.

The day was a chance for the pupils to discover and learn about architectural principals and to get working and talking together across the classes and school years.

This activity was part of Changing Spaces, a 2 year project at the school to transform an unused internal space. As part of this process the whole school also ran an Arts day in 2006.

Changing Spaces was part of an on-going four year Creative Partnership programme between Craftspace and five schools in Birmingham with the aim of developing creativity in learning and taking part in cultural activities of the highest quality.

The project was funded by Creative Partnerships. www.creative-partnerships.com.
