28 Sep Michala Gyetvai – Two trees textile brooch
Made in the Middle
Michala ‘paints’ with threads and fibres onto old woollen blankets. Through her work she seeks to capture an emotive and evocative interpretation of nature. Her work for this exhibition combines her love of nature and the poetic landscape. Often, her small textile pieces are stories which interpret the human condition. Influenced by English Romanticism, Michala’s stitched Islands are inspired from a quotation by William Blake.
‘The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination nature is imagination itself.’
