04 Oct Jennifer Collier – Paper Sampler
Made in the Middle
Jennifer Collier re-uses and recycles paper, ‘giving new life to things that would otherwise go unloved or be thrown away.’ In Jennifer’s work every exquisite detail is made, folded and manipulated from paper. Books, maps, envelopes or wallpaper are transformed into textural forms. Like cloth, it is stitched to construct two or three dimensional objects. As her main technique is stitch the work is a contemporary twist on traditional textiles. To accentuate this she incorporates many different machine and hand embroidery techniques into the work.
